"You Crack Me Up"

Common sense and a sense of humor are the same thing, moving at different speeds. A sense of humor is just common sense, dancing.
~William James

You Crack Me Up...That's what Connie told one of her students today when he was making her laugh.
He responded,"That's cossack for I'm funny, right?"
She laughed and said,"Yes it is. It is called a figure of speech."
He smiled and said, "Well, in Yupik we just say 'You're funny'."

It's been a while since I had a good giggle til you can't breathe, eyes watering, just might pee your pants kinda laugh. Tonight at the school working late Connie, Kevin (our excellent speech path) and I had just that, probably because we were all giddy and delusional from not eating, treading around in paperwork for hours and pretending to solve the problems of the world. Everything just seemed funny. If you popped in you might have heard all three of us having conversations appearing to be talking to each other but if you'd have leaned in a little closer you'd have found we were all talking to ourselves. That was between stopping to laugh about some corny thought we had. Or share the wording on an IEP....like the one Connie found that stated..."The social worker should get help with self esteem" instead of saying 'the social worker should get help for the student with self esteem', it was really funny. Just take my word for it. While Connie was attempting to make sense of an IEP I scheduled for 3 different meeting dates, Kevin was multitasking as a DJ, playing great some music on a sound system he rigged up between reports. He graciously tried to tolerate she and I creating our own impromptu karaoke out of it every other song. I bounced between writing goals, objectives, pleps, talking on the phone and teaching myself how to use Skype. Karen dropped by in the nick of time to see how we were surviving. She was armed with a cool whip bowl full her husband's moose stew (very good Isaac, Quyana) and an invite to steam. That got mine and Connie's attention, we promptly closed up shop, gave our condolences to Kevin and hurried home to get ready. What a day:) I'm ready to sleep!

So nothing too profound tonight, just a reminder to have a healthy laugh once in a while. It's so good for the soul.

Take care everybody. Have a hilarious Friday:) Good Night from Alaska!

"Thanksgivings will pour out of the windows;
laughter will spill through the doors."

Jeremiah 30:18
